Title: Early Opening of Portland Cement Concrete Pavements to Traffic
PI: James A. Crovetti
Center for Highway and Traffic Engineering
Project: This project will quantify potential benefits and costs of opening some PCC pavements earlier than the three to seven days when the minimum compressive strength of 3,000 pounds per square inch is typically achieved. The investigator will use finite-element analysis and laboratory testing of representative concrete samples to evaluate the effects of early-age loadings on expected pavement performance.
