Early behavior and characteristics of fresh concrete can be critical for development of strength or stresses in the new pavement. FHWA's HIPERPAV, a computer program, simulates the 72-hour period after concrete placement, allowing evaluation of design, materials, environment and construction factors on early-age concrete pavement. HIPERPAV was designed to allow representation of virtually an infinite number of material characteristic inputs to represent a specific pavement. The objective of this research is to refine this broad set of input variables by creating a customized list of variable values that incorporates only those types of conditions that will be encountered in Wisconsin, thereby increasing the ease of operation of the software package for Wisconsin users. |
