Title: In-Situ Monitoring and Testing of IBRC Bridges in Wisconsin
PI: Christopher Foley
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Marquette University
Project: This study will examine bridges built with the novel fiber-reinforced polymer composite stay-in-place form system and a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) grillage system, both used for bridge deck reinforcement. Studying traditional bridges compared to these new bridges will help identify sources of deterioration, durability, and effectiveness of the load transfer mechanisms that are employed.  The study will hopefully produce recommendations for long-lasting FRP-reinforced bridge decks.
Task List:
  1. Meet with WisDOT personnel in Madison to discuss bridge
  2. Visually inspect structure - subject to coordination with WisDOT personnel
  3. Installation and validation of instrumentation
  4. In-situ load testing of bridge
  5. Analytical investigation, coordination with WisDOT including general instrumentation plan, lane closure plan, and data acquisition shakedown in preparation for lead testing
  6. Synthesis of experimental data and reporting to WisDOT
  7. Reporting
