Title: Rapid Bridge Construction Technology: Precast Elements for Substructures
PI: Michael Oliva
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Project:

The objectives of this research are all aimed at increasing the speed of substructure construction while improving durabiliy. Specifically, these objectives are:M
1. To identify possible precast substructure systems and select systems that appear most appropriate for use in Wisconsin
2. To develop standard plans for selected components and connections.
3.To prepare design examples, showing how a system is selected and how components and connections can be sized.
4.Prepare cost estimates for varius alternate standard subsystems.
5.Suggest alternate substructure specifications and contracting methods that will encourage the use of rapid construction techniques by contractors.
