Knowledge Transfer Workshop
The Flexible Pavements TOC hosted a Knowledge Transfer Workshop to discuss research findings and possible next steps for the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester. Recordings of this live meeting/webinar and PowerPoint presentations are available.
Video Briefs
WHRP created these video briefs to drive home the value of selected studies. Project footage and interviews with researchers and practitioners tell the story of successful implementation of WHRP research.
- Video: Improving Subgrades and Subbases with Industrial Byproducts and Geosynthetics. This video highlights the results of six WHRP studies completed over the last decade related to improving pavement subgrades and subbases to form stable roadway foundations.
- Video: Specification and Design of Fiber Reinforced Bridge Deck Forms for Use on Wide Flange T-Girders. Researchers sought to develop performance specifications for testing nonmetallic stay-in-place formwork for use in highway bridge deck construction. The test results provided information on the strength, serviceability and behavior under accidental impact loads of these forms.
- Video: Perpetual Pavement Instrumentation. Researchers successfully installed traffic and environment sensors and a real-time wireless data feed on a portion of Interstate 43 that features multi-layered "perpetual pavement" in order to verify the longevity predicted in the pavement's design.
- Video: Innovative Materials to Strengthen Concrete Bridges. This study demonstrated the success of an innovative technique for strengthening reinforced concrete beams (or slabs) by attaching fiber reinforced polymer strips to the underside of the beam using powder actuated fasteners and mechanical anchors instead of the traditional method of adhesively bonding the strips.
E-Newsletters
WHRP publishes a quarterly newsletter that provides updates on completed projects, research in progress, regional and national collaboration, and other program information. Read the current and previous issues at www.whrpnews.org.

Regional office site visits
In spring of 2007, WHRP visited the regional offices. Documentation from these visits is provided here.
- The presentation given during the meetings. Download the PowerPoint presentation.
- A detailed report on the results of the visits. Download the PDF.
- The survey database from the regional visits. Download the Excel spreadsheet.
Webinar
As a follow-up to the site visits, WHRP hosted a webinar in 2008 to provide WisDOT staff statewide with an update on WHRP research as well as the impacts of completed projects. The first webinar in this annual series is available. Download the PDF.
Survey and report of research needs
Identifying research needs involves studying past practices in order to define needs of each TOC. Improvements are implemented through the Annual Research Needs Survey and Regional Outreach. Annual outreach efforts are then established to WisDOT regions and statewide bureaus.
