Title: Comparison of Three Different Methods for Determing Pile Bearing Capacities
PI: James Long, P.E.
Department of Civil Engineering
University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign
Project: The main research objective for this project will be to quantify the ability of the three methods: the Engineering News Formula, the Gates Formula, and Pile Driving Analysis (PDA) for predicting pile capacity in a way that allows Wisconsin DOT to assess when or if it is appropriate to use each of the methods and to confidently estimate the reliability/safety and economy associated with each method.
